Plagiarism Policy & Publication Ethics

International Society for Sustainable Education Research (ISSER)

ISSER is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and ethical conduct in all publications and submissions. Plagiarism—whether deliberate or unintentional—is a serious breach of academic ethics and will be handled with utmost seriousness.

What Is Considered Plagiarism?

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, ideas, figures, or data from another source without proper citation
  • Reusing parts of your own previously published work without disclosure (self-plagiarism)
  • Downloading and using internet content, images, graphs, or diagrams without attribution
  • Replicating conclusions, equations, or experimental designs without citing the original source

Authors must ensure that all content submitted is original, properly cited, and free from unauthorized duplication.

Plagiarism Check and Review Process:

All manuscripts submitted to ISSER for conferences or publications will undergo plagiarism screening using advanced anti-plagiarism software before the peer review stage

Detected Levels of Plagiarism:

  • Less than 5%:
Minor overlap. The manuscript will be assigned a submission ID, and the author will be asked to revise the overlapping sections.
  • 5% to 30%:
Significant duplication. The manuscript will be returned without a submission ID for major content editing and proper referencing.
  • More than 30%:
The manuscript will be rejected outright without review. The author will be notified and advised to rewrite the paper before resubmission.
Post-Publication Plagiarism

In rare cases where plagiarism is identified after publication, ISSER will:

  • Initiate a formal investigation
  • Notify the author’s institution and/or funding body
  • Add a plagiarism warning to each page of the published paper PDF
  • Retract the paper from official ISSER records and digital platforms (if necessary)
Originality Declaration

By submitting your manuscript to ISSER, you affirm that:

  • The work is original and not under review elsewhere
  • All sources are properly cited
  • Any reused content is clearly identified and referenced
  • You are not submitting duplicate or redundant publications
Self-Plagiarism Policy

Self-plagiarism occurs when authors reuse portions of their previously published work without citation. This is only permitted when:

  • The previous work is cited properly
  • here is clear academic justification for reusing content
  • The overlap does not exceed ISSER’s acceptable plagiarism thresholds

Note: Reuse from conference proceedings into a journal is allowed only with proper citation.

Accidental or Unintentional Plagiarism

Even if unintentional, failure to cite appropriately will be treated seriously. ISSER encourages authors to proofread and verify citations thoroughly before submission.

Reporting Plagiarism

ISSER encourages original authors and readers to report suspected plagiarism in any published work. Upon verification, the following actions will be taken:

  • Immediate review of the complaint by the editorial committee
  • Communication with the accused author for clarification
  • Retraction and removal of the content if plagiarism is confirmed
  • Issuance of a formal notice on the ISSER platform

All plagiarism-related communication should be directed to: info@issersociety.com
